Skin Peel Aftercare

How to look after your skin following diamond microdermabrasion and Glycolic peel treatments:

Following treatment skin may be red, sensitive, itchy, tight, tender. It may remain like this for several days. If you have sensitive skin, you may have minor bruising and prolonged redness.

It's important that aftercare is followed. This includes:

  • Daily application of (minimum) SPF 30 for at least 7 days following treatment. This is very important as skin will be more susceptible to sunburn and pigmentation (including 'age spots') in the days following your treatment.

  • No makeup or cleansing products for 12 hours.

  • No perfumed or exfoliating products for 3 days.

  • Do not actively sunbathe or use a sunbed for at least 7 days. Treatments are not suitable prior to holidays where you will be exposed to the sun, as skin will be sensitive and more susceptible to sunburn and pigmentation, including 'age spots'.

  • No heat treatments/environments for 5 days i.e. saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, facial waxing

  • Do not come in to contact with any chemicals, such as swimming pools etc. for 3 days.

  • No excessive exercise immediately after treatment.

  • Take directed advice if undergoing laser or IPL treatment.

  • If you decide to wash your face after your treatment, use lukewarm water and no cleansers or soap. Pat the skin dry.

  • Avoid touching your face, as bacteria from your hands may block pores.

  • Drink plenty of water to keep your skin and your body hydrated.

  • To get the most our of your treatment(s), prolong results and properly care for your skin, its important that you have a good skincare regime in place at home. Products used should be appropriate for your skin type.

If you have any problems or queries after your treatment or you'd like to discuss products for use at home, please contact me at any time.
